Non-Chinese
Speaking Studentsˇ¦ Designated School
We are delighted to inform you that our school has been chosen as one of the designated schools for Non-Chinese Students starting from the academic year. As a designated school, we attach great importance to providing education support for NCS students.

School Based Curriculum
Since we launched the Non-Chinese student program two years ago, our teachers have become very experienced in teaching and interacting with the Non-Chinese students. The school and its teachers recognize the difficulties for Non-Chinese students in learning the Chinese language. Accordingly, our teachers had designed a tailor-made School Based Chinese Curricula for the Non-Chinese students to learn the language effectively and efficiently through the use of creative approach such as learning through songs and visual arts.

Medium of Instruction
We believe it is very important for the NCS to be bilingual and fluent in both English and Chinese. Consequently, the medium of instruction of their classes have also been divided into two languages. Maths and General Studies are taught in English whereas PE, Music and Arts and Crafts are taught in English and Chinese.

Professional Workshops for Teachers
The school has also provided professional development resources to its teachers to assist them in teaching Non-Chinese students, including professional workshops with Ferme Wong of Unison which has provided participants with practical and useful advice and information.

Summer Bridging Program
The government has also been giving the school funding for organizing classes of Summer Bridging Program that we provide for our new Non ˇVChinese students. Parents have been very pleased with the success of the program and as a result, some students that were not enrolled in our school at the beginning of the term have decided to apply to our school after attending the Bridging Program.

Our Sponsoring Body
Our sponsoring body ˇ§Tung Lin Kok Yuenˇ¨, believes in helping minority groups in Hong Kong. Our schoolˇ¦s sponsoring body has hired 2 extra NETˇ¦s as well as 2 extra teachers to cater the learner diversities among local students and NCS. For the past two years, Tung Lin Kok Yuen has provided subsidy on transportation and textbooks to the Non-Chinese families who have financial problems.

Competitions and Excursions
Throughout school life, there are always competitions organized, whether internally or externally. Our Non Chinese speaking students compete in many competitions such as interclass choral speaking competition, speech festival and singing competitions. They also competed in an English Folk Song singing competition, where they did extremely well.
The Non Chinese students are thoroughly integrated into our daily life and involved in all the social and educational outings such as field trips to HK Historical Museum, SPCA, the local fire station, school picnics, sports days, international days, etc.
